Being a Squirrel
Every week, Squirrel Scouts gather in a group called a Drey to hop, skip and jump their way through lots of different games and activities.
Exploring the great outdoors
Our one-hour sessions will be a brilliant opportunity for young people to take their first step into being part of Scouts, and they’ll help everyone get ready for the adventure of school too. Sessions are packed with outdoor activities, fun, games, badges, laughter, and so much more to help our youngest members learn the skills they need for life. Of course, none of it would be possible without the support of the amazing volunteers who plan and deliver such an inspiring program.
The Squirrel Programme
Each badge is packed with wow and wonder, perfect for anyone who’s ever asked ‘why?’ (or ‘why not?’). You’ll tell stories and play games. Get active and explore the outdoors. Become a brilliant builder and a super chef. There’s something for everyone.

Who leads Squirrels?
All of our volunteers are trained to make sure Scouting is safe and open to all. Some lead the Drey week in and week out, and others visit occasionally to help run a session or drop in to share their skills.
Squirrel uniform
For Squirrels, the uniform consists of a red sweatshirt with your badges sewn on and our scarlet and green group scarf. Uniform can either be bought from the online shop – Scout Store – or from a local supplier. Scarf’s, woggles, and badges will be awarded to Beavers when they are invested into the group and when they complete activities. If you’re not sure where to start, adult volunteers can give you more information about what to buy and where to buy it
